Water Contamination
STATES OF WATER IN OIL
Water contamination is the Scourge of lubricating oil, let’s take a look at the three states of water co-exist in oil.
Dissolved Water
(Appearance: clear/Bright oil)
Water molecules dispersed one-by-one throughout the oil like humidity.
Emulsified Water
(Appearance: cloudy oil, like a fog)
Microscopic globules of water dispersed in stable suspension in the oil.
Free Water
(Appearance: Oil&water stays at a clear separation)
Water that readily settles down to the bottom of oil sump or tank.
